Uganda, May 5 -- Residents of Bwayuya Parish in Kaliro District have expressed frustration over delays in connecting electricity to their area, months after a transformer was installed to link them to the national grid.

The parish, which comprises Bwayuya Trading Centre and the villages of Butesa A, Butesa B, Bwayuya A, Bwayuya B and Bwayuya C, remains without power six months after Kaliro Sugar Factory donated a 200kVA transformer worth Shs75 million.

Community members say they had expected the project to transform livelihoods, but the continued delay has left households and businesses operating in darkness.
