Uganda, April 13 -- The Inspectorate of Government has directed 21 officials in Jinja City to refund more than Shs33 million irregularly spent, following investigations into misuse of public resources.
In a statement dated April 13, 2026, the anti-corruption body said the officials must return a total of Shs33,075,000, which they allegedly misappropriated while executing official duties.
The funds are to be deposited on the Inspectorate's Assets Recovery account held at the Bank of Uganda.
The Inspectorate warned that failure to comply with the directive will lead to prosecution.
