Uganda, April 15 -- Uganda's insurance industry has registered steady growth in coverage in the past one year, although a significant gap remains in reaching the wider population.

According to recent data from the Insurance Regulatory Authority, the number of insured people increased from 405,837 in the second quarter of 2024 to 506,119 in the second quarter of 2025, highlighting gradual progress in uptake.

Mr Paul Muhame, Chairman of the Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda (IBAU), said the figures cut across various categories of insurance, including life, medical, motor third-party, property, and liability.
