Uganda, April 15 -- Two staff members attached to the Ministry of Lands zonal office (MZO) in Jinja have been arrested by the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, over suspected corruption and misconduct.

The suspects, a staff surveyor, Daniel Francis Wagoli, and a graduate trainee, Gideon Woniala, were arrested on Wednesday after a surprise inspection by the IGG's team uncovered Shs1,080,000 in cash under unclear circumstances in the office.

The IGG, Justice Aisha Naluzze Batalala, who led the monitoring exercise in Jinja City and Jinja District, said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to address corruption and inefficiency in public offices.
