Uganda, April 20 -- A mortuary attendant attached to Tororo District General Hospital has been arrested for allegedly impersonating a pathologist and conducting an unauthorised postmortem examination.

The suspect, identified as Mr Moses Owino, was arrested on Monday following a spot-check visit by the Inspector General of Government, Lady Justice Aisha Nalule Batala.

According to reports, the IGG team found Mr Owino conducting a postmortem on a body inside the mortuary without the required qualifications or authorisation.

The examination was reportedly being carried out on the bare floor, raising serious concerns about professional standards and the handling of human remains.
