Uganda, May 6 -- An agent of a foreigner who influences policy-making decisions in Uganda will face a prison sentence of up to 10 years, a fine of Shs1 billion, or both.
This measure will take effect once the President assents to the Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2026, which was passed by Parliament last night amidst protests.
The House, chaired by Speaker Anita Among, inserted Clause 12(3) in the draft Bill, whose major implications will be felt by political parties and civil society organisations (CSOs).
For legal entities found on the wrong side of the proposed legislation, a Shs2b fine has been tagged.
