Uganda, May 7 -- A bus belonging to Gulu Secondary School carrying students for a study tour to Jinja was involved in a road crash in Kiryandongo District early Thursday, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

Traffic police spokesperson Michael Kananura said the crash occurred in northwestern Uganda at around 5:44am when the bus driver allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided head-on with a Fuso truck in Kigumba Town.

School authorities confirmed that the bus controller died on the spot.

Reports suggest that more than five students sustained injuries, mainly minor cuts, while one female learner reportedly suffered a deep cut on her leg.
