Govt pushes for regional gaming forum to tackle illegal betting
Uganda, May 11 -- Uganda is pushing for closer regional cooperation to fight illegal gambling and harmonise responsible gaming standards as Africa's digital betting industry grows under tighter regulatory scrutiny.
Speaking at the inaugural iGaming Africa Summit, National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board CEO Mr Denis Mudene said the market had outgrown national borders and needed a coordinated response. He proposed an East African Gaming Regulators Forum to align enforcement and close loopholes used by illegal operators.
"The market is no longer confined within borders. Without coordination, illegal operators will continue to exploit regulatory gaps," Mudene said during a panel on Africa's evolving gaming regulatory landscape.
