Uganda, May 5 -- The government has intensified efforts to promote coffee and cocoa farming in Bukedi sub-region, positioning the two cash crops as key drivers in the fight against household poverty and low incomes.
Bukedi, which includes districts such as Pallisa, Budaka, Butebo, Kibuku, Butaleja, Tororo and Busia, has long depended on subsistence farming dominated by crops like cassava, millet and sorghum.
However, the region continues to grapple with high poverty levels linked to low agricultural productivity, climate shocks and weak market access.
