Uganda, April 11 -- Efforts to reduce the risk of zoonotic disease outbreaks in the Greater Virunga Landscape have received a boost after the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) handed over eight field vehicles to frontline surveillance teams operating in the tri-border region.

The vehicles, handed to the Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration (GVTC) and Gorilla Doctors, are expected to strengthen disease monitoring and response in one of Africa's most biodiverse but high-risk ecosystems where humans, livestock and wildlife interact closely.
