Eight youth activists sentenced to 11 months in prison over 'Stop EACOP' protests
Uganda, April 17 -- The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate's Court has sentenced eight environmental activists to 11 months in prison on charges of public nuisance.
Teopista Nakyambadde, Shammy Nalwadda, Dorothy Asio, Shafik Kalyango, Noah Kafiiti, Ismail Zziwa, Akram Katende, and Keisha Ali were sentenced to prison on Friday, April 17, 2026 by Grade One Magistrate Rophine Achayo who convicted them of the offence of Nuisance on the road contrary to sections 65(e)of the Road Act Cap. 346.
