Uganda, May 11 -- Eight security personnel, including five police officers from the Directorate of Counter Terrorism Tactical Unit, have been charged over a break-in and theft at the Bank of Uganda headquarters in Kampala.

The suspects appeared before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate's Court on Monday and were charged with neglect to prevent a felony under Section 362 of the Penal Code Act. They all denied the charge.

Grade One Magistrate Rophine Achayo informed them of their right to apply for bail but said the applications could not proceed because documents had not been uploaded to the Electronic Court Case Management Information System.
