Ebola: Fate of 70 Congolese foot pilgrims hang in balance
Uganda, May 16 -- A total of 70 foot pilgrims from Congo are set to undergo screening for the Ebola virus as they enter the country to commemorate this year's Martyrs Day, the organising committee has announced.
By Saturday afternoon, the faithful were being temporarily hosted at St Michael Church-Kabuyiri in Kasese near the Uganda-DRC border as they await screening, a delay against the planned journey of faith that was scheduled to proceed this afternoon.
They arrived in Kasese District on Friday from the Catholic Diocese of Butembo-Beni in Eastern DRC, and are part of the thousands expected to participate in the annual June 3rd Uganda Martyrs' Day celebrations at Namugongo.
