Uganda, April 24 -- Managing Director of Housing Finance Bank and Chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Sub-committee at the Uganda Bankers Association, Michael Karokora Mugabi, says the banking sector is moving to unlock trillions of shillings tied up in court disputes through mediation. He says prolonged litigation often linked to loan defaults, land and ownership disputes has constrained liquidity and slowed economic activity.Working with the Bank of Uganda and the Judiciary, the sector is now prioritising early dispute resolution, including mediation clauses in banking agreements and strengthening professional mediators.
