Uganda, May 16 -- As the US prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence through the "Freedom 250" campaign in 2026, the anniversary in Uganda, is reopening conversations about culture, migration, music, and opportunity. Plus, the complicated but enduring relationship between Ugandan artistes and America. For decades, the US has to many Ugandan creatives symbolised possibility. From hip-hop and R&B to film, fashion, and entrepreneurship, US has influenced dreams and careers of generations of Ugandan artistes. Some travelled there for education, collaborations, and exchange programmes. Others, eventually relocated in search of wider audiences, financial stability, creative freedom, or simply a better life.
