Uganda, May 1 -- African technology experts have called for stronger continental regulation to protect the region's growing pool of artificial intelligence (AI) talent, warning that global tech giants are increasingly drawing skilled developers away from the continent.
The call comes amid rapid expansion of Africa's digital economy, with AI-driven solutions gaining ground in finance, agriculture, healthcare, education and communications. While the growth signals opportunity, experts caution that without urgent policy intervention, Africa risks becoming a supplier of talent and data rather than a beneficiary of the AI revolution it is helping to shape.
