Uganda, May 10 -- Mental health advocates have raised concern over rising emotional distress among young children, warning that academic pressure, long school hours, and unstable family environments are exposing children to mental health challenges at an early age.
The concerns were raised during Mental Health Awareness Month commemorations organised by the Parliamentary Forum on Mental Health in Kampala on May 9.
Mr Christopher Komakech, executive member of the Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Mental Health and Aruu County MP, Pader District, warned that cases of stress among children, including nursery pupils, are becoming increasingly common. He described the trend as a "time bomb" for the country's future generation.
