Uganda, May 14 -- A new political chapter unfolded on Wednesday as 63 district councillors and the District Chairperson officially took their oaths of office, pledging to dismantle a legacy of political infighting and usher in an era of transparency.

The ceremony marked a dramatic shift in the district's legislative landscape. Of the 63 sworn-in members, only 17 are returning veterans. The vast majority of the previous council, including senior members who had served for over 30 years, were ousted by voters during the January elections.
