Uganda, April 25 -- A nine-year-old boy has drowned in Butambuka Beach at the shores of Lake Kyoga in Buyende district.

00 pm on Saturday, when the deceased, identified as James Buyinza, a son of Mr Siringi, a resident of Bugemb village in Nsomba parish, Kagulu Sub-county, reportedly left home for Kabukye Primary School but never returned.

However, later on Saturday evening, his body was sighted at the lakeshore area of the beach, where he is believed to have drowned.

Area LC1 Chairperson, Mr Cornelius Kabbale, says the incident is a call for more vigilance by guardians and parents of children living near water bodies.
