Uganda, May 16 -- A power fault at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital has forced the closure of its main theatre, prompting the transfer of at least 46 mothers who underwent Caesarean sections to Princess Diana Health Centre IV for emergency operations before being returned for post-operative care.

Health officials said the arrangement has been in place since Sunday after the theatre at the regional referral hospital developed an electrical fault linked to aging infrastructure.

At Princess Diana Health Centre IV, mothers are operated on and later transported back to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, where nurses and attendants help settle them into overcrowded wards for recovery.
