Uganda, April 10 -- Police in Soroti are investigating the circumstances under which a 20-year-old man fell from the third floor of Soroti main market on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred at about 7:40pm on April 9, 2026.

East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, Ibrahim Saiga, identified the deceased as Mark Okiring.

"Police are actively investigating a suspected death by suicide that occurred this evening of April 9, 2026 at about 19:40pm at Soroti Main Market," Mr Saiga said.

He added that the victim was rushed to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mr Saiga said investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
