165 women undergo pelvic organ surgery in Buikwe
Uganda, April 16 -- A total of 165 women have undergone free pelvic surgery prolapse surgeries in Mbikko, Njeru Municipality in Buikwe district within eleven months.
The drive held at St Francis Health Care Services is part of the year-long health support targeting 600 patients, which started in June 2025 and will end in June this year.
"Most of the beneficiaries are mothers aged 50 and above," said Dr Anthony Ruhangayebare, the medical officer in charge of St. Francis Health Care Services.

Dr Anthony Ruhangayebare explained that pelvic organ prolapse is a condition which occurs when the muscles and tissues supporting the pelvic organs weaken, causing the organs to descend from their normal position.
