Sri Lanka, April 2 -- The Education Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline in schools while strictly prohibiting any form of corporal punishment or psychological harm to students.
In a recent directive, the Ministry stated that, in addition to the guidelines outlined in Circular No. 12/2016 dated April 29, 2016, new provisions will now be enforced with immediate effect to further strengthen student protection.
Authorities highlighted that when implementing the existing circular, due attention must be given to Paragraph 17 of the Supreme Court judgment in Case No. 461/2012 (FR).
