Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- A 53-year-old woman has been arrested by the Illegal Assets Investigation Division over properties and assets allegedly acquired through drug trafficking.

Police said the investigation was launched after the Inspector General of Police (IGP) received information regarding a drug trafficker residing on Ferguson Road in Colombo 14, who had allegedly accumulated substantial assets through the illegal trade.

Following reports submitted to court by the division, the assets and properties were frozen under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The freezing orders were subsequently extended by the High Courts of Negombo and Colombo.
