Sri Lanka, Feb. 25 -- The Wildlife Conservation Department has announced that it will conduct a formal investigation following reports that tourist bungalows in some national parks are being booked online and used for purposes other than wildlife viewing.
According to Sections 3(b) and 2(c) of the Wildlife and Flora Protection Ordinance, the Director General may issue permits for entry into national parks strictly for the purpose of viewing wildlife and flora. The permit does not grant authority for any commercial activities or other programs outside this scope.
The Department said it had received information that certain tourist bungalows within national parks were being reserved online and used for unauthorized activities.
