Sri Lanka, March 8 -- Hundreds of schoolchildren from across the Western Province gathered in Colombo yesterday to promote road safety through art at a special competition aimed at creating awareness about preventing road accidents.

The Western Province round of the annual art competition organized by the National Transport Commission (NTC) under the theme "Let's Rally from School for a Tomorrow Without Road Accidents" was held yesterday (7) at Lumbini College.

The competition was organized with the full approval of the Ministry of Education (Sri Lanka) and the Western Province Department of Education, with the main objective of raising awareness about road safety by encouraging the creative talents of schoolchildren.
