Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- The impact of the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal on Sri Lanka's weather is expected to gradually decrease from tomorrow (25) as the system weakens into a depression, the Meteorology Department said.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-Western provinces, with heavy rainfall of around 100 mm possible in some areas.

Fairly strong winds of between 30 and 40 kmph are also expected at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, North Central and North Western provinces, as well as in Trincomalee, Hambantota and Matale districts.

The public is advised to remain alert to locally heavy rainfall and strong winds in the affected areas.
