Sri Lanka, Aug. 25 -- The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) said the temporarily suspended water supply will be restored within the next few hours following the resolution of an emergency situation that affected water quality at the Kelani River water intake point.

The emergency situation was resolved with the support of the tri-forces, according to the NWSDB.

Following recommendations from the Disaster Management Centre, laboratory tests were conducted to assess the quality of the water before resuming distribution. The NWSDB said water distribution would resume after confirming that the water meets the prescribed quality standards.
