Sri Lanka, Aug. 17 -- Vietnam Airlines has launched direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo, strengthening air connectivity between Vietnam and Sri Lanka.

The inaugural flight from Tan Son Nhat International Airport arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on August 16 and was welcomed with an official ceremony attended by aviation, tourism and diplomatic representatives.

The new service will operate three times a week and is expected to boost tourism, support business travel and strengthen ties between the two countries.

Vietnam Airlines has partnered with Advantis - Aviation Services, a subsidiary of Hayleys PLC, which has served as the airline's General Sales Agent in Sri Lanka since 2019.
