Sri Lanka, Aug. 30 -- A 17-year-old school student was killed in a sharp weapon attack in Eheliyagoda early this morning (30), police said.

The victim was an Advanced Level student at Eheliyagoda National School.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident was linked to an argument that arose after another person allegedly recorded a video yesterday evening (29) near the Aarapola school junction, where a youth was seen talking to two young women.

Police said the suspect had gone to the student's residence early this morning and attacked him with a sharp weapon before fleeing the area.

The critically injured student was admitted to the Eheliyagoda Base Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
