Sri Lanka, July 10 -- Veteran Sri Lankan singer Mariazelle Goonetilleke has passed away at the age of 68. She passed away in the early hours of Friday (July 10) while receiving treatment for an illness at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila.

Known for her signature Western-style pop and upbeat rhythms, Goonetilleke was a versatile and dynamic force in the local music industry.
