Sri Lanka, Aug. 3 -- The University of Peradeniya has temporarily suspended all academic activities and examinations until further notice due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.

In a notice issued to students, the university administration said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and staff. However, it confirmed that all essential services on the campus will continue without interruption.

Students who are able to travel safely to their hometowns have been permitted to leave the university. Those who are unable to return home because of the severe weather may remain in university hostels, except for the Sarasavi Medura Hostel, after informing the relevant hostel authorities.
