Sri Lanka, Sept. 14 -- Britain has said it regularly raises issues of accountability, reconciliation and enforced disappearances with the Sri Lankan Government, while urging a credible and transparent investigation into the Chemmani mass graves that meets international standards.

Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Chris Elmore said last week that the UK was closely monitoring developments relating to the Chemmani mass graves and continued to engage with the Sri Lankan authorities on the need for a credible and transparent investigation.

He said the investigation should include robust forensic safeguards and meaningful engagement with the families affected by the disappearances.
