Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- Two persons in possession of animal body parts, including antlers, hides and ornaments made from elephant tusks, were arrested during a raid conducted by the Police Special Task Force (STF) in the Kuruwita area, the Department of Wildlife Conservation said.

The raid was carried out based on intelligence information provided by the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Investigators recovered three sambar deer antlers, four pairs of spotted deer antlers, the hide of a jackal and several ornaments carved from elephant tusks.

The suspects were due to be produced before court.

The animals concerned are protected under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance.
