SriLanka, Oct. 1 -- A television cameraman has been arrested in connection with the alleged assault of a security officer attached to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe's security detail.

The officer was admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo yesterday after he was allegedly struck on the head with a camera during an incident near the entrance to the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court.

The officer had lodged a complaint with the Slave Island Police regarding the incident.

The alleged assault took place as Wickremesinghe was leaving the court following a hearing in a case filed over allegations of misusing state funds.
