Tri-forces step in to treat injured elephant calf amid wildlife vets' strike
Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- Veterinary personnel from the Army, Navy and Air Force have stepped in to treat an elephant calf that sustained a gunshot injury and was found in critical condition in the Herathgama Wildlife Zone.
The elephant calf was found near the upper reaches of Nikawewa and Thibbatuwawewa and was reportedly struggling between life and death due to the injury.
As wildlife veterinary officers continued their strike, veterinary personnel and other officers from the three armed forces arrived at the location on the evening of August 12 and carried out an emergency procedure.
