Transport ministry secretary resigns
Sri Lanka, May 29 -- Professor Kapila Perera, the Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, has reportedly decided to resign from his post.
According to sources, the prominent academic has officially informed the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government of his resignation. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has also been formally notified regarding the decision.
The development follows a recent Supreme Court ruling last week, which determined that the fundamental rights of a senior official within the Ministry of Transport had been violated.
