Total of 104 people sheltered in two safe centres due to adverse weather: DMC
Sri Lanka, May 15 -- Claiming that there is no major disaster situation reported in the country due to the previaling rainy weather, Director of the Disaster Management Centre, Pradeep Kodippili said today that 104 people have been sheltered in two safe centres in the Kalutara and Puttalam districts.
He told a news conference that 29 people are sheltered in Kalutara while 75 are in the Puttalam district.
Kodippili said people in the Ratnapura, Galle, Moneragala, Batticaloa, Kalutara, Colombo, Puttalam and Jaffna districts have been affected due to the adverse weather.
He said the Colombo, Kalutara, Ratnapura and Kegalle districts have received between 60 mm to 175 mm of rain during the last 24 hours.
