Sri Lanka, May 1 -- Showers or thundershowers are expected over most parts of the island after 1.00 pm today, the Meteorology Department said.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and North Central provinces.

Meanwhile, showers are also expected in coastal areas of the Western and Southern provinces during the morning hours.

The department added that misty conditions can be expected in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North Central and Uva provinces.

The public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimise possible damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
