SriLanka, Sept. 11 -- The emergence of the digital media ecosystem has challenged legacy media or the Fourth Estate, to a point where it is now becoming an information battle. Social media in particular have created opportunities for mass mobilisation while allowing youth to bypass state censorship and challenge corrupt governments. But this trend was predicted back in 2007 by Oxford scholar Prof. William Dutton who argued that internet connected citizens will do the checks and balances in parallel to traditional media. In an attempt to verify Dutton's argument in Asia, journalist, media academic and Asia Regional Adviser to International Media Support Dr. Ranga Kalansooriya recently launched his book titled 'The Youthquake'.
