Sri Lanka, July 30 -- The 1990 Suwa Seriya Foundation has decided to introduce a motorcycle-based emergency medical service aimed at reaching patients requiring urgent medical attention more quickly and efficiently.

According to the foundation, the new service will initially target urban areas, including Colombo, where heavy traffic congestion and road obstructions often delay ambulance response times.

The main objective of the programme is to provide immediate first aid and basic medical assistance to patients before an ambulance arrives, the foundation said.
