Sri Lanka, Feb. 25 -- Former State Intelligence Services (SIS) Chief, Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay who was arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act, is to be detained for 72 hours for questioning, police said.
Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in charge of the Western Province, Sajeewa Medawatte said that the arrest was made based on evidence uncovered in relation to the 2019 Easter Sunday bomb attacks.
He made these remarks during a special media briefing held at the Police Media Division.
Senior DIG Medawatte said that a lengthy investigation is required and therefore, detailed information cannot be disclosed at this stage.
