Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- The Supreme Court, a short while ago, commenced hearing the 67 Special Determination petitions filed in connection with the proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.

The petitions were taken up for hearing before a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court. The bench was presided over by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena and comprised Justices Achala Wengappuli, Arjuna Obeyesekere, Sampath Abayakoon and Gihan Kulatunga.
