Sri Lanka, April 15 -- The sun is expected to be directly overhead in several areas in the Northern Province, including Pandatharippu, Thellippalai, Varuthaleivilan, Vasavilan and Manatkaadu, at approximately 12:10 p.m. today (15), the Meteorology Department said.
This occurrence is part of the sun's apparent northward relative motion, during which it passes directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka between April 5 and 15.
The phenomenon, commonly referred to as the "overhead sun," results in minimal or no shadow being cast by objects at noon, as the sun is positioned almost exactly above a given location.
