Sri Lanka, June 16 -- The Meteorology Department has issued a strong wind and rough sea warning for sea areas extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota, urging naval and fishing communities to remain highly vigilant.

According to the warning issued at 10.30 a.m. today (16), sea areas off the southern and eastern coasts are expected to become rough at times, with strong gusty winds reaching up to 50-60 kmph.

The sea areas extending from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota are also expected to experience increased wave heights of around 2.0 to 2.5 metres, posing risks for maritime activities.
