Sri Lanka, April 23 -- A routine inspection in Colombo took an unusual turn this morning when a bus conductor was found left behind after his own bus reportedly drove off without him.
The incident happened during a special operation carried out by the Western Provincial Road Passenger Transport Authority, based in Bambalapitiya. The operation was aimed at checking private buses for rule violations such as overcharging passengers and not issuing tickets.
During the inspection, officials found the stranded conductor. He told them, "The bus left me... I am the conductor." The Road Inspector first told him to find another way to travel, suggesting he take a three-wheeler.
Later, the inspector arranged for the conductor to board another bus...
