Sri Lanka, April 21 -- Against the backdrop of fluctuating global fuel prices, Sri Lanka has decided to continue with the QR code system for the rationalisation of fuel distribution indefinitely, an official said.
In the wake of the escalation of the Middle East conflict, the Sri Lankan government reintroduced the QR code system as a fuel-saving measure.
Currently, the volatile situation in the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passage responsible for nearly 20 per cent of global fuel transportation, has disrupted supply chains, leading to price fluctuations.
