Sri Lanka to implement national pharmaceutical policy 2026-2030
Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the expedited implementation of Sri Lanka's National Pharmaceutical Policy for 2026-2030, aimed at ensuring access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines for the entire population.
The policy was developed in response to current health needs, changes in the global pharmaceutical market, challenges in the pharmaceutical supply chain and new requirements related to local pharmaceutical production.
Although preliminary work was initiated between 2020 and 2025 to update the National Pharmaceutical Policy introduced in 2005, the process had not been completed.
