Sri Lanka, June 11 -- Sri Lanka's javelin sensation Rumesh Tharanga has achieved a historic milestone by surging to the third position in the latest Men's Javelin Throw World Rankings, published by World Athletics.

According to the newly updated standings, Tharanga has secured an impressive total of 1,324 ranking points. He sits just two points behind the world number two, Anderson Peters of Grenada, who holds 1,326 points. The top spot on the leaderboard is currently held by Germany's Julian Weber, who leads the world rankings with 1,360 points.
