Sri Lanka, March 25 -- The government yesterday reiterated that Sri Lanka did not make a diplomatic level invitation for Iranian vessel 'IRIS Dena' to visit Sri Lanka other than a cordial and oral invitation made by Navy Commander at an event in India.

Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Nalinda Jayatissa told a weekly briefing to announce Cabinet decisions that the invitation made by the Navy Commander is a routine invitation made by contemporary Navy Commanders in general.

"Such invitations are made at events by any country. Everyone knows how such invitations are made orally in such events and how such invitations are reacted to diplomatically,' he said responding to a question.
